So who are we, anyway?

THERESE V. BROOKS
Founder, Owner, Editor

Raised in Monroe, North Carolina, Therese fell in love with all things Charlotte at an early age, always dreaming that the Queen City would one day be her own. You may occasionally catch her fibbing that she is a native.

After dropping out of her beloved performing arts high school, Central Academy of Technology & Arts, at sixteen years of age, she eventually graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minors in both sociology and gerontology.

As an undergrad, she met the love of her life, Walker, at The Liberty in South End. The two were wed three years later at the Duke Mansion in Myers Park and moved to the pear tree and craftsman bungalow lined streets of Dilworth. Still newlyweds, they conceptualized and created Charlotte Brides in their first months of marriage.

Therese and her husband then went on to purchase and renovate their not-so-traditional dream home with floor-to-ceiling glass walls in a high-rise Uptown. The couple just adores their four-legged family members and have rescued quite the menagerie!

Therese loves being married to her soulmate, writing about weddings, eating just about everything, drinking wine, and running marathons (so she can eat just about everything and drink plenty of wine). Since running the inaugural Charlotte Marathon, she’s now determined to run it every single year hereafter. However, you’re most likely to find her at home writing and editing in her PJs, dining out at local digs, or even volunteering alongside her sweet senior therapy pup, Beau.

Contributing Writer, Events Correspondent

Amy is a native North Carolinian. Born and raised in the City of Oaks (Raleigh), her ties to and love for the Old North State run deep.

A lifelong Wolfpack fan, Amy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from North Carolina State University. A job in event planning brought her to the Queen City after graduation, where she enjoyed the opportunity to plan large events for non-profits and young professionals.

After several years as a major events coordinator, a career change put her smack dab in the middle of Charlotte’s burgeoning bridal community. She fell in love with not only the fashion and grandeur of weddings, but also telling the stories of couples from beginning to end. Amy truly believes there is no story too small to tell, and each couple deserves the chance to share what makes their story unique.

When she’s not writing, you can find her spending time with her husband and two daughters. A lover of travel and margaritas, she appreciates the chance to spend each and every day with the people she loves most.

BRITTNY M. ERVIN
Social Media Contributor, Style Correspondent

As a self-proclaimed curator of all things stylish, sophisticated, and whimsical, Brittny inspires brides, women, and families on the daily as a personal stylist in the greater Charlotte area and as a social media maven for the region.

Brittny first made her mark as a lead stylist for J. Crew + Madewell, later becoming the founder and influencer behind Carefully Curated. Beyond the world of fashion, she serves as an educator, wife, and mother to two littles. In her downtime, she loves reading, discovering new stylists, collaborating on anything wedding related, and spending time with her family.

Brittny’s favorite part about the Queen City is the fact that there are so many surrounding neighborhoods to remind her of her dear hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. She loves the convenience of being close to a major city without giving up the quaint, small town atmosphere of the suburbs. Mostly though, she admires local designers and marvels at the many amazing women-owned businesses that our chic city has to offer.

A hike up a mountain, walk on the beach, row boat rental on Lake Norman, tennis match, or even fun group dance sessions are all perfect alternatives! Her best advice? “There will never be a more beautiful you, so live your best life to the beat of your own heart!”

BEAUREGARD “BEAU” BROOKS
Media Personality, Mascot

Once a throwaway pet, Beau was adopted at eleven years of age, ridden with parasites and suffering from a severe heart condition. After regaining that pep in his step, he admittedly now “lives the good life.” He serves as the official mascot for Charlotte Brides in those rare moments between snacking and snoozing.

In his time off, Beau volunteers with Hands On Charlotte as a therapy dog. He visits his senior pals at various skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities throughout the greater Charlotte area, spreading cheer whilst also finding personal fulfillment.

A self-proclaimed socialite, Beau dons his tuxedo to the Humane Society of Charlotte’s Ties & Tails Gala yearly as a VIP Pet. He has also been published in the likes of Carolina Bride Magazine for his all-but-essential role in the 2015 Fish-Brooks wedding as co-ring-bearer.
