CLICK HERE FOR FREE TICKETS Evoking Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year, Greenery, the shoot surely beckons springtime with its bright and vibrant hues while still echoing the classicism and elegance of the mansion in its foundation of silvers and whites. Furthering the theme, feathers and crystal elements add texture and interest.

About Styled Shoots: The utility of any styled editorial, for both bride and vendor, lies in the originality of its concept and the quality of its execution. Styled sessions encourage professionals to experiment with new techniques, fine-tune skills, explore design possibilities, and work together to achieve a vision. Surely, this shoot is no exception.

The modern tablescape boasts an impressive collection of clear glass and mirrored surfaces on various planes. Textures include opalescent crinkled taffeta linens, fine feathers, and vibrant velveteen moss. Two marvelous spheres, each adorned in allover plush white plumage, sit like sculptures atop clear trumpet vases at either end adding height. The place settings are fairly formal featuring our planner’s own heirloom sterling silver flatware and bearing all stemware – save for the snifter. Adjacent sits a silver tray of refreshing mint julips with traditional hollowware tumblers and Doc Porter’s Bourbon as locally distilled in Charlotte.

Chelish Moore’s floral design work is, in a word, otherworldly. A tetrad of adjoined linear centerpieces in mirrored boxes spans the length of the table creating a chic runner. Chelish seamlessly incorporates over a dozen floral varieties – both unconventional and traditional including: white snapdragons, hydrangeas, petite spray roses, roses, and calla lilies; green dianthus, parrot tulips, variegated hydrangeas, amaranthus, and bupleurum; as well as silvery succulents, brunia, and seeded eucalyptus. The combined shades capture Pantone’s description of Greenery as a “fresh and zesty yellow-green shade… emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.” Truly.

The ultra-modern cake, by Sky’s the Limit Bridal Sweets, features a crisp white base of smooth fondant. It flaunts two contemporary cascades of hand-cut rice wafer paper and a jeweled adornment at its center. The genius of her avant-garde design lies in its ambiguity in that it simultaneously represents both the likeness of feathers and petals.

Our groom model, Brennan Asplen, sports a custom tuxedo suit by Charlotte’s newest bespoke menswear clothier and tailor, Alton Lane. Brennan’s tuxedo is jet black with a dapper satin shawl collar. His classic black bowtie is paired with a hidden placket tuxedo shirt so as to keep the focus on the jacket’s clean lines.

Our bride model, Hayley Medlin, is dressed in a curation of four gowns via greater Charlotte’s newest bridal boutique, Paige and Elliott.

Austin Scarlett’s architectural “Parterre” ball gown, a personal favorite of shop owner and wedding planner, Erin Padgett, features a voluminous fluted skirt with pinch pleats at the dropped waist, vertical seams on the bodice, and an unembellished heavy silk gazar. Pictured is the gown with and without a thin, beaded belt.

Austin Scarlett’s “Gentry” is arguably the most Pinterest-worthy frock of the four. It’s an unassuming pick until you see its posterior which is elevated by an oversized origami bow. Even better is its detachable train, eliminating the costs and hassle of a bustle.

Moonlight Couture’s style H1287 features an extraordinarily beaded drop-waist corselet. The ornate chandelier pattern ends in scallops at the upper thigh where the gathered tulle skirt begins. Gossamer layers of the overskirt extend just enough to create an ethereal chapel train.

Moonlight Collection’s style J6367 is a traditional satin trumpet gown in an unlikely silvery hue. The Swarovski encrusted beadwork and embroidery begins at the sweetheart neckline, extends just past either hip to accentuate curves, and continues again at the hemline. Buttons follow the entire length of the train, alternating with crystal medallions.

Unique pieces from The Bead Lady’s Kathleen Reeder are featured throughout. Our model wears a drop earring featuring halo-set pear-shaped crystals. Our shoot’s statement jewelry piece is certainly the dramatic six-strand pearl necklace in the perfect bridal ivory. Also shown are two pairs of crystal stud earrings by Swarovski and Badgley Mischka. Strappy heels by Badgley Mischka feature rows of crystals in varying shapes and sizes. The crystal accents tie together the earrings, bridal belt, head piece, and limited edition fragrance.
