THE QUEEN OF HEARTS: Whimsical Bridal Inspiration | Charlottean Couture by Pixton Design Group

Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.

This imaginative styled shoot draws its inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s beloved classic, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The bespoke invitation suite and opulent red florals along with the most resplendent backdrop of The Duke Mansion all combine to bring this whimsical Queen of Hearts theme to life. Though the photo shoot as planned by Heidi Crowder Wedding Design is whimsical and bold, the unique details still serve to inspire brides with more refined tastes.

The inspired paperie by Elle Dee Designs sets a strong foundation with its playing card motif. The response cards read with cheeky options such as “Royal Flush” and “Folding” alongside either diamond or heart to tick. The suite features regal calligraphy in both black and white ink on carmine envelopes. A vintage timepiece accent and skeleton key escort cards further the concept.

The scintillating gown, as originally designed and sewn by Charlottean atelier Pixton Design Group, is surely fit for a queen and aptly named “Bonita Rosa.” The modern two-piece frock features a glamorous train which is echoed in the construction of its long flounced sleeves. The vibrant vermilion lace glimmers with an allover sequin appliqué in a modernistic squiggling pattern. Added to the look are statement earrings by Aubre’s Bridal which subtly reference hearts at their second tiers.

Sissy Duncan of Simply Beautiful Artistry creates magic by incorporating an iridescent shadow in the subtle smoky eye look. Her updo features an off-center part and a chic, side-swept braid. To pull it all together, only the boldest cherry red lip will do for our Queen of Hearts.

The centerpiece and bouquet by Springvine Design are nothing short of splendid. The florals flaunt bold cerise anemones, colossal red cabbage roses, burgundy spider mums, aubergine snapdragons, and even a touch of English ivy. Streams of hand-tied silks further elevate the bridal bouquet. Blooms cascade down the hand-painted fondant cake by Sky’s the Limit Bridal Sweets and over pearl strands at each tier.
