Shortly after Dave reached out to Chris on eHarmony with a note titled “Dave the teacher,” this real-life couple began planning their first date. Though Chris only set aside a short amount of time for this first encounter, it lasted for hours after Dave accompanied her back to her office to help with a project for which both shared an interest. Chris, an epidemiologist, and Dave, a historian, became inseparable — so much so that the duo needed no official engagement.
In fact, Chris recalls watching television with Dave one night and turning to ask “You would like to get married, right?” Dave said, “Of course! Don’t you?” When Chris said “yes,” they wasted no time starting the planning process. The couple describes their relationship as “easy,” noting that they are always on the same page no matter how big or small the topic of discussion.
Words hardly do justice to the rustic beauty of Chris and Dave’s big day. When it came to the wedding, intimate was their overarching goal, and Mast Farm Inn owner and onsite wedding planner, Danielle Deschamps, created a dream-worthy day full of details. With just six of their best friends in attendance, Chris’ childhood friend walked her to the ceremony on the property of Mast Farm Inn in Valle Crucis, NC. The bride and groom said “I do” under a wooden arbor and the ceremony was accented with hints of cream and orange flowers. Chris was radiant in her Ann Taylor gown and Dave dapper in a tan suit by Jos A Bank.
A day the couple describes as “country chic Carolina,” the bride and groom spent the afternoon playing yard games and sipping cocktails with friends. In a nod to their locale, everyone enjoyed an amazing charcuterie featuring some of North Carolina’s best meats and cheeses. The party moved to a private patio for dinner, where the bride describes the location as “picturesque” and “surrounded by all the local flora of the region.” The natural wood and floral décor was the perfect complement to this truly unique venue.
The day wasn’t without a bit of humor, as Dave didn’t realize cutting the cake was such a pivotal moment. After quickly devouring the first bite of cake without a photo, Chris reminded him to slow down for a picture. Dave, looking puzzled, replied, “You mean we are taking pictures of this? I thought we just ate cake!” Reflecting on the day, the couple can’t help but feel loved after “being surrounded by some of the most wonderful and supportive people in our lives.”
Dave and Chris continued their adventures in the High Country as they camped and hiked in Smoky Mountain National Park for their honeymoon. The couple resides in Chapel Hill, NC.
