Charlotte Swim Week 2016, as presented by Lace International and benefiting the Jill’s Wish Foundation, featured quite the diverse choosing of designers both local and international. This weekend’s recap highlights the hottest of honeymoon styles straight from the runway.
The opening segment featuring Mermania Swimwear mesmerized all in attendance. The playful and theatrical addition of two muscular male models bearing a mermaid – complete with shell bra and flippers – won the Charlottean crowd over. Mermania, based in Mobile, Alabama, specializes in “handmade mermazing swimsuits, beach wraps, cover ups, and other trendy bohemian styles.”
Cocksox’s runway presentation touted nearly a dozen male models clad in just their skivvies. The Sydney Based company’s cheeky (literally) underwear, swimwear, and “gym-wear” designs lived up each and every claim of *ahem* enhancing and accentuating the male physique.
So we got to thinking… We brides OBSESS over our wedding night lingerie. Maybe – just maybe – it wouldn’t be such a terrible thing if grooms everywhere upped the ante in return. See below for proof.
Trèfle Designs, headquartered in the British Virgin Islands, delighted all with their bright floral motifs and gossamer cover-ups. Current mood: still swooning over their stock and scouring sites for a red-eye flight to somewhere that serves sweet drinks with teeny umbrellas.
NYC based Kyle King put on quite the show. The collection featured bold patterns and stripes in a variety of attractive silhouettes. Male models strutted down the runway in the most modest of white shirts before provacatively peeling them off – one by one – and tossing them to attendees. We loved the egalitarianism of the lineup – something for everyone!
CHERRY BOMB SWIMWEAR
Cherry Bomb Swimwear seduced us all with an array of strappy and sexy numbers that paired exceptionally well with their models’ sky-high stilettos. Surely, the Charlotte-based company boasts some of the hottest styles we’ve seen yet.
SHAWN MONIQUE DESIGNS
Shawn Monique’s custom couture offerings were unlike anything else – sultry lace, captivating crystals, and luxurious feathers combine in these stunning suits. The romance is real: We’re head-over-high-heels in love and ready for our own design consult!
RED SIREN SWIMWEAR
Red Siren Swimwear’s collection blew us out of the water – so to speak! Our favorite is the oh-so-chic black and white bandeau featuring gold chain ties. And the billowy ruched red one-piece is as flirty as it is flattering. But beyond the amazing apparel and favorable fits? Charlottean company Red Siren has pledged to donate 10% of the proceeds of each item sold to the South Carolina Sea Turtle Hospital to help save our enchanting (and endangered) flippered friends.
